The **Indonesia YSEALI Regional Workshop 2025** is a U.S. government initiative under the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (**YSEALI**) to connect and empower young leaders from Southeast Asia and Timor-Leste. This workshop, focusing on the **Blue Economy**, aims to foster regional collaboration and innovation in **sustainable ocean-based industries**, including **renewable blue energy, desalination, blue carbon, fisheries, marine conservation, and green shipping**.
The **five- to six-day workshop** will be primarily held in **Batam, Indonesia**, with **day trips to Singapore** to explore various blue economy initiatives. **Sixty YSEALI members** (ages 18-35) interested in **emerging energy technologies, environmental conservation, economic development, and sustainability** will participate. The program may also include members from the **Young Pacific Leaders (YPL) network** to encourage broader regional cooperation.
Workshop sessions will cover **blue economy principles**, ASEAN and U.S. approaches, regional funding opportunities, and leadership development. Participants will engage with **experts, industry leaders, government entities, and NGOs**, and visit innovative initiatives in both **Indonesia and Singapore**. Activities will also include **networking events, skill-building sessions, and post-workshop mentorship opportunities**.
The program must integrate **cultural and community service** elements, reinforcing **ASEAN unity and U.S.-ASEAN partnerships**. The recipient organization will be responsible for designing the **event program, training materials, digital engagement strategy, and post-workshop follow-up**, such as **virtual collaborations, seed-funded projects, and mentorship**. A **pre- and post-workshop survey** will assess participant growth and program impact.
